About the Modifications:

The 710 UA is a nice sounding preamp but in its price range isn’t the best performer out there frankly. 

There are a number of bottlenecks in the circuit that are the root cause.

Some are places where design improvements can be made and others are limitations of the active and passive components in the design, Ie Opamps and preamp IC. 

We find the stock design to lack extension in the low end and the top end is somewhat limited. 

Headroom also leavs something to be desired.

As the gain increases, the headroom quicly evaporates and all the sound funnels to the midrange. 

Clarity is decent with the design, but there is always room for improvement there as well.

Headroom is noticeably lacking,  as the source approaches clipping, the audio really smalls up and becomes brittle and harsh sounding.

The Modifications:

On these, We perform a full audio path upgrade and pull out all components in the audio path.

We then tune the circuit for more musicality, as well as to have better headroom, bandwidth, detail, frequency response and better signal to noise.

Distortion is also lowered in a very desirable way.  

During the upgrade The Tube is also replaced and the power supply overhauled for the best possible performance from the design. 

We replace all amps with Burr Brown High Performance amps.

Capacitor types and values get adjusted and bypassing in the DC rails is performed for lower noise as well.

Purchasers will find that the musicality and performance is increased to a nice Price to Performance ratio after modifications. 

Our modifications really push the performance the design to the limit with a low noise tube, Burr Brown Opamps and some engineering know how. ​
