MODIFIED: KLARK TEKNIK 2A-KT, TUBE OPTO COMPRESSOR, NEW IN BOX

Up for sale is a New, freshly modified Klark Teknik 2A-KT compressor from Revive Audio with a full 2-year warranty. 

On the 2A-KT we offer a wonderful circuit upgrade that CULLS its namesake and really brings out the Urei sound in the design.

We put a lot of love into the modifications on this one as with all of our modifications, to squeeze out the maximum performance possible.

With the modifications they sound great on Bass, vocals, room microphones and more and are a lot closer to the original.

Pretty much anywhere you would want to put a LA2A, like vocals and Bass


The Klark Teknik version is a bit of a surprise as to how non LA2A it sounds.

The design is fairly warm but very anemic in the low end and lacks the sonic imprint of its name sake.

IN addition, the release time of the T4-B opto Cell is very fast and leaves a lot of artifacts that again does not sound like an LA2A clone should.

Our modifications put a lot of performance into the design,

Remedy the low end response, smooth out the compression and bring back the character to the design.

The Results:

The service increases the headroom of the unit, widens the frequency response and increases the character/color of the design.

So The modifications:

We do a complete audio path upgrade using premium parts for lower noise and higher headroom as well as lower distortion.

All Audio caps are swapped out for better performance using Panasonic Parts and Orange Drop Capacitors and film capacitors in the audio path for more authenticity.

Bypassing is performed where necessary for lower noise in the power supply and certain values are adjusted to more closely reflect the original design.

Power supply modifications are also performed for the lowest possible noise figures in the overall design and better current delivery.

Tubes are then swapped for more complimentary versions in the design in terms of authenticity.

Finally we modify the existing T4B to remedy the release time.

The results are a very nice sounding LA2A clone that won’t break the bank and puts a professional compressor in your rack for daily tracking and mixing applications.
